William Belmonte

August 22, 1924  -  June 25, 2011

William A. Belmonte, age 86, of Trumbull and formerly of Greenwich, the beloved husband of Marion Belmonte for over sixty-four years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2011.

Born in Greenwich to the late Rocco and Emilia Belmonte, he was a U.S. Marine veteran having served in World War II as part of the second landing on Iwo Jima. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed painting contractor. He had a great sense of humor and loved to help people.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving family, Rocco Belmonte and his wife, Mary of Ridgefield; Emelia (Emmy) Sarica and her husband, Buddy of Trumbull; and four grandchildren, Dorian Belmonte of MD, Rachel Oleson of CA, and Zac and Gianna Sarica of Trumbull and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his precious granddaughter, Alana.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich with Full Military Honors. Friends may greet his family on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center.
