Helen C. Simon

January 22, 1919 – November 13, 2011

Helen C. Simon, age 92 of Fairfield, the beloved wife of the late Edward W. Simon, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011.  Born in Bridgeport to the late Stanley and Mary Swierczewski, she was a lifelong area resident.  Helen had a uniquely gentle spirit and was always cheerful.  She was a wonderful homemaker, but also a bookkeeper for many years with her husband’s milk company, Eddie’s Dairy Service.

Helen is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara J. Simon of Terryville and Cathy Gombos and her husband, Danny of Fairfield.  She will also be missed by her grandchildren, James Razdrih of Fairfield, Mark Wakeman and his wife, Roxanne of Terryville, Matthew Gombos and his wife, Sarah of Fairfield, Christina Sokolowski and her husband, Raymond of Virginia Beach and Daniel Gombos of Fairfield; two great-granddaughters, Amanda and Alyssa Wakeman; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center, with the Pastor Doug Steeves officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at her second home, Ludlowe Heath Care Center, for the wonderful care their mother received over the years.
