Gloria Gigliardi
February 5, 1922 – August 18, 2011
Gloria M. Gagliardi, of Fairfield and formerly of Larchmont, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at home. Born in Larchmont on February 5, 1922 to the late Frank and Mary Gagliardi, she attended Ursuline Academy in New Rochelle and Rosemont College in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of the Berkeley Secretarial School in New York City. Gloria worked at BBDO on the TWA Account and then was recruited by TWA to serve as the Assistant to the V.P. of Marketing for over 25 years. She was awarded a World Pass for her services and travelled extensively, often with her nieces and nephews. From safaris in Africa, Christmas shopping in Paris, camel riding in Egypt, her favorite destination was Italy, the birthplace of her father. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver and skippo champ. She was an inspiration to all for her independence and passion for travel. Gloria is survived by her loving sister, Mary A. Ryan of Fairfield; her adoring 21 nieces and nephews; and, her 60 plus great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, the Hon. Joseph F. Gagliardi, Phinina Forbes, Anthony L. Gagliardi, the Hon. Lee P. Gagliardi and Diane Collins. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Friends may greet her family on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center. Donations may be made in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5845 Richmond Hwy., Suite 800, Alexandria, VA 22303.


Glo was a wonderful and caring woman who will be missed.

I will miss you and your sly smile. Each and every time we got together you had a smile. I was glad to see you when we had our family reunion and you will be so missed. I love you and am glad you will be united with your family in heaven.
