Clarence “Bud” Jennings, Jr.
May 6, 1935 – November 20, 2011
Clarence “Bud” Jennings, Jr., age 76 of Easton, the beloved husband of the late Caroline (Binkiwitz) Jennings, joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Born in Westport to the late Clarence and Mary (Kozak) Jennings, he was a lifelong area resident. Bud was a 1953 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School where he met the love of his life, Caroline. Together they raised five children in Fairfield and Easton. Bud was the former owner of the Driftwood Lounge in Fairfield and also owned Stamford Millworks, LLC. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2220 in Fairfield, the Easton Lions Club, the National Rifle Association and the CRG. He was also a Freemason and Justice of the Peace.
Small town living ran through Bud’s veins. He wove himself into the fabric of Easton’s identity for decades as an activist, a coach, a scout leader and volunteer. As a frequent contributor to town, board and commission meetings, Bud helped define the term “watch dog” by saving Easton tax payers literally millions of dollars through CRG, Connecticut’s oldest continuously serving PAC. Bud was a true sports enthusiast. He was passionate about his Red Sox, a season ticket holder for UConn Women’s basketball and a frequent attendee at the Indiana Final Four. He was a true animal lover and championed the construction of a new animal shelter in Easton.
Bud loved life, his family and his community and he will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his tenacity and his intelligence. He is survived by his five loving children, Cynthia L. Long and her husband, Gary of Oxford, Cathleen P. Murphy and her husband, Charles of Southbury, Cheri Coleman and her husband, John of Trumbull, Clarence “Bud” Jennings, III of Stratford and John C. Jennings and his wife, Paula of Hobart, IN; and his brother, Richard Jennings and his wife, Joyce of Tennessee. He also leaves behind 16 cherished grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Zak.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Bud’s name to the Easton Animal Shelter, c/o Easton Police Dept., 700 Morehouse Rd., Easton, CT 06612.

I always thought Uncle Bud would live forever, so hard to grasp that he’s no longer with us. He will be missed by all who knew him. All my sympathies and love to you all.
I still cannot believe Uncle Bud has left us; I will remember the memories of going over to their house and having Auntie Carol make dinner and entertaining.
Though much time was lost and unfortunately I haven’t seen Uncle Bud for a few years; I will cherish the memories I did have with him. To Cindy; Cathy; John and all the family; I send my deepest sympathies and love to everyone.
I will always remember bowling with Bud and Carol in the Saturday night Guys and Dolls couples league many years ago. Lots of laughs and fun we had. R.I.P. Bud. God bless you. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
I’ll always love my Pop.
You will be missed as you were loved very much by those who knew you.
We were saddened to learn of the passing of our old Hall Road neighbor “Buddy”.
