Charles J. Conner
September 10, 1933 – January 26, 2012
Charles J. Conner, age 78, of Easton, the beloved husband for fifty-three years to Emily G. (Geremia) Conner, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012, with his family by his side.
Born on Sept. 10, 1933, Charles J. Conner was the son of the late Charles and Mary Conner of Norwalk.
Known as Bud to his friends, he was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Norwalk in 1947, Fairfield Prep in 1951 and Fairfield University in 1955 at which he was a member of the Glee Club. Bud was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served as a writer for the ship’s newspaper aboard the USS Lake Champlain between 1956 & 1958. He was a Newspaper Editor for over thirty-nine years for the Norwalk Hour and the Connecticut Post, where he retired in 1996.
Along with his wife, Charles is survived by his loving sons, Timothy and his wife Mary Ann of Lisbon, and Douglas and his wife, Kimberly of Madison. His grandchildren, James, Michael and Daniel Conner of Lisbon and Huxley and Caxton Conner of Madison, will also miss him. Additionally, his sister Maryjane Pacifico and her husband, Paul of Darien and his cousins, Bette Ann Conner and Joan Sisk Gardella, both of Norwalk and James Sisk of Dayton, OH, survive him.
Bud was an avid sports fan, with a special love for the New York Mets. His interests included family, gardening, cooking and taking long walks on the beach.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road in Fairfield. Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Suite 100, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
